Marataba Safari Company in South Africa. YES.

This is me putting it out there in the Universe: Let’s plan a fabulous safari wedding in South Africa. And since I am not much of a camper but more of a glamper, I’ll be more specific: Let’s plan a fabulous safari wedding at Marataba Safari Company in Thabazimbi, South Africa. It’s the kind of place that imprints your soul and humbles your spirit. Africa. The time for me to return can’t come soon enough. We were there recently to plan a ridiculously amazing wedding. That journey led us to Marataba Safari Company. This is the PERFECT intimate destination wedding location (30 people max). It’s impossible to rate the best thing about this experience. Was it the impeccable first class service – it is a part of the Relais & Chateaux collection. Was it the 5 star food the young chef poured her heart into? Was it the South African staff with the gentle smiles and eyes that told 1000 stories? Was it the land itself? Was it eating lunch while a herd of exotic animals gracefully strolled nearby with complete disregard for our existence? Was it the quest for Mother Nature’s most powerful animals? Was it our warm “tent” with the free standing stone tub and worldly amenities?

Whatever it was, one can’t help but fall in love with Africa, or fall in love all over again with the person you are with on this trip. It is a dream.

And cheers to new friends! Love this couple and look forward to continuing to travel the world with my love – like these two. So much great advice shared.

Love in Bloom: Part II

Sweet pictures of the dessert lounge at Kristin and Bobby’s wedding.

P.S. The desserts by Ken-Rose Catering – even sweeter (really some of the best desserts and food I have ever had).

Unity Sand Ceremony- Make it Count

I always tell my clients that the most important part of the wedding is the ceremony. It is the heart and soul of everything. During Kristin and Bobby’s ceremony, they gathered sand from places all over the world that held special meaning to them: Exuma, where they met and fell in love; Islamorada, where Bobby grew up and proposed to Kristin; the backyard beach at Kristin’s family home where they were to wed; and South Africa, Kristin’s mother’s beloved country and a place very near to their hearts.  The sand was then poured into one beautiful vintage container. Make it count.
