We are thinking of calling it an early day here at the Luxe Fête headquarters. We can’t concentrate, we can’t focus, we just want to celebrate and dance. What a historical day. What a moment to witness. What a dream come true. A nation under GOD that says we are all equals, who you love is who you love and the fundamental right to marry is just that: fundamental. No longer shall this liberty be denied to anyone. Amen.
We can’t wait to be a part of history by planning and designing beautiful wedding stories for our beautiful gay clients. We may lose some clients because of our viewpoint, and that is OK. I will fight for the right of the next man to have that viewpoint, but it ends there. They don’t get the glory of my love and creativity. Love rules here at Luxe Fête.
Be sure to take a moment to read the profound ruling. An excerpt that gives us the chills each time we read it is: “Especially against a long history of disapproval of their relationships, this denial to same-sex couples of the right to marry works a grave and continuing harm. The imposition of this disability on gays and lesbians serves to disrespect and subordinate them. And the Equal Protection Clause, like the Due Process Clause, prohibits this unjustified infringement of the fundamental right to marry. . . These considerations lead to the conclusion that the right to marry is a fundamental right inherent in the liberty of the person, and under the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment couples of the same-sex may not be deprived of that right and that liberty. The Court now holds that same-sex couples may exercise the fundamental right to marry. No longer may this liberty be denied to them.” Obergefell v Hodges.
We are lucky to taste this sweet fruit of democracy. Let’s work on our race relations next.
