• Welcome to the blog of Luxe Fête. We are a full service international event planning and design studio based in Miami, Florida. Global clients seek our services to plan, design, and produce their events. We have executed events around the world, with much of our work featured in national publications. Before channeling my creative energy into this field, I was an attorney at top law firms and clerked for a Federal Judge. It did not take long to realize I’d rather be telling stories by transforming spaces and creating beautiful atmospheres. Stay awhile - we would love to hear from you! Nous aimerions entendre parler de vous! Nos encantaría saber de usted! Gostaríamos muito de ouvir de você! Be sure to also visit our website: www.luxefete.com

Urban Prettiness: The Textures

I had to learn the hard way that it is texture, and not color, that provides a rich landscape with depth and character. I once threw a party with different shades of my “favorite” colors. I just knew it was going to look hot, until I put it together, and well, it was not. Everything looked so dingy. And then Farah jumped in and started mixing and matching different materials and textures. Automatically it went from a 0 star design to a 10 star design. I never forget a lesson: combining different textures adds a creative voice to a designer. Our Urban Prettiness palette works because of our use of materials. The croc-embosed sofa and table give you that same feeling you get when you see an Hermes Birkin bag – it’s just luxe. That paired with the floaty rosettes and raw silk pillows mimic the soft texture of the pink peonies. When it came to the gift table, we invaded Nuage Design’s warehouse of couture linen and pulled out these three stunning white linens: a micro sequined, a deconstructed rosette and a pin tucked. It’s like they are a group of three best friends. One is glamour girl, one is la bohème, and the last is Ms. Classic. Another one of my favorite pairings in this shoot is the juxtaposition of the long hair goat rug with the cracked concrete. Can you say: let’s roll.

Spice of Love Featured in Maharani Weddings!

Wow. Talk about full circle. When I started planning Natalia and Leonard’s wedding, the very first place I looked to for inspiration was Maharani Weddings. I spent hours swooning over every detail on their blog. No doubt this is a wonderful haven not just for South Asian brides, but anyone who appreciates visually stunning weddings with the deepest connection of family and community. So honored that Luxe Fete’s Spice of Love Wedding was today’s feature on Maharani Weddings!  Loves it.  Can’t wait to do more Indian Weddings!

Urban Prettiness: The Gift Table

I hate to break it to you, but most people throw away those wedding favors you spent so much time coordinating with your “theme.” One thing they won’t get rid of though, is a personalized gift. We love the idea of creating a mini scrapbook for each of your guests. It is time consuming (good thing you’ll have the luxury of time when you hire a wedding planner) but you could probably create just a few books according to your groups of friends and then replicate several sets. It doesn’t have to be all fancy, just thoughtful. For our wedding, B and I handwrote a personal note on beautiful stationary to each person. It was a hit. Once they read them and realized their note was different from the next person, you could hear the sea of “oohs and ahhs.” How neat to walk into my friend’s apartment a few years later and see the note actually framed. True story. Ask Hilda. Our Urban Prettiness gift table was inspired by the amazing Amy Atlas. Each gift is wrapped with unique handmade paper, and then topped with a live arrangement of peonies and roses. We floated candles overhead to create our own whimsical lighting. And then we set each table at different heights to play with layers – a trick that always works. How about them beautiful linens? More about that later when we talk about our use of texture in this photo shoot.

Jessica Ceballos - I love the idea of the mini scrapbook as a gift for your guests!! It’s just as sweet as the urban prettiness decor… What a thoughtful idea!!

Deirdre Dunham - I remember receiving my personalized note at your wedding, Nat! I still have it, of course! And you know that I am the type who will toss a wedding favor in the trash about 10 seconds after I leave the reception. So that should tell you something about how special your note is to me. <3 Great blog post!

Urban Prettiness: The Pretty Elements

Blush fever isn’t an easy fever to get over. It obviously took us for a loop on this photo shoot, and we loved every minute of it. As much as I thought I didn’t like pink (i.e. my mom was instructed not to buy ANY pink clothes for my two girls when they were born) it can be such a sweet color. And frankly, it doesn’t get any sweeter than pink peonies with their thousands of lush petals. We paired our soft florals with rough edges like chipped mirror containers, cracked goblets and croc-textured furniture, hoping to give our design a more sexy/urban vibe. Then we decided sexy wasn’t enough and that we also wanted glamour. Instantly, I remembered these fabulous Venetian-inspired mirrors I once saw at Modani – totally glamourous [and totally belong in my home: hint hint B]. I’d say these glorious mirrors juxtaposed to the barren walls of our loft space set off the Urban Prettiness tone.

Urban Prettiness: The Urban Details

The ultimate urban locale is a loft. It’s is essentially a carte blanche. The minute I knew we were designing something with an urban flavor is the minute I knew we had to do it at The Nuage Studio. The Nuage Studio is 6,000 square feet of bare open walls, high ceilings and smoky gray elements – perfect to ground the pretty and girly elements we wanted to play with. All of this in MIAMI. Smile. While touring the space we fell in love with their tall, stark white crocodile-textured royal table and high back sofas. So lovely, I’d wear them if I could. We paired the table with Nuage’s Kartell inspired bar stools because (a) they are sleek and (b) they “lit-e-rally” (in Rachel Zoe’s cadence) allow you to absorb the open space, a feeling we definitely wanted to invoke. My favorite element on the urban side of our Urban Prettiness Shoot is the natural cracks in the concrete floor. Something haunting about them, something beautiful about them, something real. Ambrosio photography captured it beautifully.

Deirdre Dunham - Only you can manage to make a pink wedding so much more than just, well, a pink wedding! This is so modern, fresh, clean! And, perhaps most important to a groom, it isn’t too girlified – the industrial feel and white, snakeskin texture “manly it up” just the perfect amount. Way to go, Nat and company!
