• Welcome to the blog of Luxe Fête. We are a full service international event planning and design studio based in Miami, Florida. Global clients seek our services to plan, design, and produce their events. We have executed events around the world, with much of our work featured in national publications. Before channeling my creative energy into this field, I was an attorney at top law firms and clerked for a Federal Judge. It did not take long to realize I’d rather be telling stories by transforming spaces and creating beautiful atmospheres. Stay awhile - we would love to hear from you! Nous aimerions entendre parler de vous! Nos encantaría saber de usted! Gostaríamos muito de ouvir de você! Be sure to also visit our website: www.luxefete.com

The Gift of a Boudoir Photo Shoot

50 Shades of Grey is about to drop in theaters on Valentine’s Day Weekend. You know what that means. A lot of talk about all things sexy.  We will happily jump on the bandwagon. Remember we keep it “Classy” with a “C” not a “K.”  Topic of discussion: The Gift of a Boudoir Photo Shoot. Ladies do you not wish this was you? Even my most conservative brides have asked me to style a boudoir shoot. It boils down to four things: (1) your confidence; (2) your lingerie; (3) the photographer’s eye and (4) your ability to commit to memory the poses below, less the raunchy ones that I have crossed out.  And voila, you too can surprise your special someone with a raw silk box that has lightly scented tissue lined between each museum-quality print of your work of art.  A special thanks to photographer Ozzy Garcia for making my client feel and look so beautiful. This is very special. It’s truly 50 shades of grey.

Exotique

We happily have the blues here at Luxe Fête Design Studio. It started with an Indigo vase from Vietnam that I spotted while furniture shopping at Home Design Store – up until now my secret spot. Over the years this gem of a store has given me so much joy, including a two-hundred-year-old bench from an Indian temple that I use for dining and an oversized antique wooden armoire from Thailand that guards my “investment pieces” (that’s what I tell my man).

Back to when the blues hit me. I saw the vase and was struck by it’s rich color and clean lines. I took a picture, texted my girls and said, “Want to design a beautiful table with this one as the main chick?” Let’s just say, once I have an idea you are either on my train or  not. Luckily for me, all aboard the Luxe Fête Express were some incredible vendors:

Venue: MAPS Backlot Studio, a fantastic event space in the heart of Wynwood – one of Vogue’s top 10 neighborhoods in the world.
Furniture: Home Design Store, a furniture store filled with bespoke hand-selected items from faraway lands.
Florals: Flower Bazaar, one of our favorite florists. Thierry and Leo are sophisticated, well traveled, so creative and big hearted.
Rentals: Atlas Party Rental, a wonderful selection for all event needs.
Paper Suite: LetterHeads, the definition of fine stationary and exquisite taste.
Photographer: Ozzy Garcia, all my favorite photos – this guy took them.

I am grateful for all of the above and all of the below. I hope you love our creation too – Exotique.

The Inspiration Behind “Exotique”

Travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer. The opportunity to see the world, try different foods, shop, find global inspiration for my client’s events and “feel” colors is invaluable. There is one color I find that has the ability to transcend cultures. Be it the stained glass of the Saint-Denis, the wall paintings at Knossos or the Bassin Bleu in Jacmel, it’s the color that has inspired painters, musicians, designers and the first pair of jeans – Indigo Blue. Indigo was even banned in parts of Europe. That’s how exciting it can be.

Thus, Indigo seemed the perfect one to play a leading role in our next creative photoshoot. As with any Luxe Fête project, our design process starts with the creation of an inspiration board. Everything must fall in line with the board’s carefully thought out identity (representative of our client). And every board gets a name. Meet this fine lady we call “Exotique.”

Be sure to check back soon to see how we transformed “Exotique” into reality with the help of some remarkable vendors. P.S. Sorry Marsala, but you are NOT our color of the year.

Proper Table and Dinner Guest Etiquette

Because social media has a funny way of making us lose our mind and table manners, I thought I’d share some easy pointers on being a great guest.

Basics

The same as any polite situation applies. Eye contact when speaking, consistent posture and hands in your lap while waiting.

Know to Turn Off

A beautiful mention of your hosts work on social media is a compliment but one with a limit. Don’t monopolize more than a moment to take a photo and be sure to disconnect during dinner (no under the table usage). The best compliment you can give is being present.

Pay Attention

Before drinking, serving and unfolding your napkin, take cues from your head of table. Every one of your movements should follow second to theirs.

Makeup

Touch up lipstick or otherwise should always be done after excusing yourself from the table.

Utensils

Begin on the outside of your cutlery and move inward for every course change. When finished eating place your knife and fork vertically through the centre of your plate.

Substitutions

No need to apologize for your diet restrictions. Make your needs known to your host well in advance of the event.

Lastly, smile for you are making memories like these wonderful Luxe Fête guests below!
